Louis Vuitton
The completion of the stunning flagship Louis Vuitton store in the exclusive area of Mayfair, London is a wonderful example of the way Powells works and the level of our expertise. As main contractor, we implemented the highly complex architectural and structurally engineered plans to reshape two adjoining properties into one fabulous retail space for Louis Vuitton in the prestigious London location. A team of highly skilled designers, architects, structural engineers and specialist consultants meticulously planned the project over several years to fully execute the highly complex designs to make the clients vision a reality.
Floors were removed, new piles and foundations created, new structural columns and beams inserted, and existing structural elements were strengthened throughout the building. All of this plus much more had to be completed under the tight restrictions imposed by Westminster City Council and with the main Jubilee line running directly underneath the site, which the Powells team expertly delivered throughout the build and ensured there was minimum disruption to surrounding businesses and environment.
The final result speaks for itself with a stunning Portland stone façade, a remarkable glass illuminated staircase, and the unrivalled standard of fit and finish throughout all befits the Louis Vuitton brand name. The project is a credit to the Powells management team, whose wealth of experience, flexibility and ability to deal with any problems efficiently and decisively has been a major factor in the success of the highly complex and innovative project for one of the world’s most prestigious retailers.
Craig McDonald of Wintersgill LLP (UK Architects) said about the project: “Thank you and all the team at Powells for a job well done. In terms of delivery and client satisfaction, this project has been, in our opinion, an outstanding success and a credit to all involved.”
