Leckford Estate – Golf Pavilion
John Lewis Partnership’s privately owned Leckford Estate near Stockbridge, Hampshire is home to two nine-hole golf courses primarily for use by John Lewis Partners, their families, and guests. The pavilion (club house) was in need of a large one storey extension, as well as a refurbishment to the existing building, in order to transform it into an attractive club house for members to gather before and after a round of golf whilst also having the capacity to hold functions and events.
The works began by excavating ground works and laying foundations for the new extension followed by forming the new steel structure and laying the brickwork and roofing. We then laid new flooring, erected partition walls and ceilings and installed fixtures and fittings throughout, forming ladies and gents changing rooms with showering and toilet facilities, an air-conditioned lounge area, full kitchen and the fitting of the double glazed windows and doors, with all mechanical, electrical and plumbing works carried out under Powells instruction. We finished by decorating throughout, installing a digital ‘signing-in’ unit, coffee and vending machines, storage cupboards fitted in the lobby and a new office installed for the course manager, complete with cupboards, worktops, and pedestals. All the fixtures and fittings for this project were made in-house by Powells Joinery.
As a straightforward project, compared to other work we have undertaken, our attention to detail in this build was of utmost importance nonetheless. The result was a lounge that has a lovely south facing combination of windows and sliding doors opening out on to a decked terrace that overlooks the 9th green and a club house with all the requisite facilities for members and guests of John Lewis to enjoy.
